Cooking line

The cooking line

Hot side calls are about gas and heat, so we start by making the appliance safe and then find why it stopped.

Signs you need us

  • A pilot that won't light or won't stay lit

  • A fryer that takes too long to recover between baskets

  • An oven that runs hotter or colder than its dial

  • A burner with a yellow or lifting flame

  • A thermostat that clicks and does nothing

  • A steamer that fills slowly or doesn't make steam

At the visit

What happens when we arrive

  1. 01

Step 1: We make it safe

Gas off at the appliance if we need it, and the connection checked before anything else.

  2. 02

Step 2: We find the cause

Pilot assembly, thermocouple, thermostat, igniter, valve or burner, tested one at a time.

  3. 03

Step 3: We quote it in writing

The part and the labor, with the appliance's age beside them.

  4. 04

Step 4: We test under load

We bring the appliance to temperature and watch it recover before we leave.

The quote

What drives the cost

Every quote is in writing before work starts, with the equipment model, what's included and how long the quote holds. These are the things that move it.

  • The appliance

Make, model and age decide what parts cost and whether they're stocked.

  • The failed part

A pilot assembly is a small job; a gas valve or control board isn't.

  • Gas connection

A connector or shutoff that has to be replaced adds to the job.

  • Access

A fryer pulled out of a line is a different job from one on a roller base.

  • Parts on the truck

A part we carry is a same-visit fix; one we order adds a day or more.

  • Hours

After-hours calls carry the rate quoted when the call is answered.

Questions about this work

I smell gas. What do I do first?

Leave the kitchen, don't switch anything on or off, and call your gas utility's emergency number or 911 from outside. Then call us.

Do you clean hoods?

No. Hood cleaning is a separate service. We repair the equipment under it.

Can you work on any brand?

We repair most commercial gas appliances. Text a photo of the nameplate and we'll say whether we carry the parts.

Do you install new equipment?

We replace like-for-like appliances and connect them. A new line layout is a project we quote separately.

Fryer, range or oven down?

Call the line. A technician answers, and if it is a gas smell we tell you what to do first.
